Round Sheet is a working reference on running competitive dance events. It covers the four desks an organiser actually sits at: entries, heat lists, judging, and results. Each entry answers one question about the paperwork of a competition, states the answer in its first sentence, then shows the arithmetic, the documents and the deadlines behind it. The material is written from published rulebooks, entry forms, heat lists, programs and results sheets, and each entry names the sources the desk read.

Who writes it

The desk of Round Sheet writes every entry, in American English, in the third person. Competition organisers, judges, studios, federations and software are named in the third person as well. Photographs are generated for each entry and captioned as scenes of the work: a table, a sheet, a printed list, a floor before the doors open.

How an entry is written

An entry begins with one question from an organiser's day, such as how many heats fit on a floor or how a mark sheet becomes a place. The desk gathers the rulebooks and the published documents, works the example through with real counts and dates, and files the entry under one of the four desks. Each entry carries the date it was last checked, and the sources it read.
